Compost Drive
Inquire about the current availability and usage of compost pickup and drop off services in your community.
Create an informational, flyer email, or social media post, ( possibly a community Facebook page) on compost pickup and drop off services available in your town, and on composting at home tips and tricks.
Promote composting in your community by developing articles, Facebook page posts, presentations, and even door to door promotion ideas. Get approval from your advisor.
When project is complete- check the current useage and add to your final deliverables. Were you able to increase composting activity? By how much. If not, why? What are the obstacles to predominate adoption of this practice?
Tips or additional ideas:
You can design a program to collect and deliver compost for the elderly to community compost, or to promote community drop off or pickup services. This population often wants to compost, but 55 and up communities lack the lawn space, are usually deed restricted and many older folks are less likely to be able to do full at home composting anyway.
You could do a fundraiser to pay for compost collection service for the elderly.
You could design and build DIY compost kitchen canisters ( these should be waterproof and have a charcoal filter ( can purchase online) secured against ventilation holes.
